You guys… finding healthy snacks for kids that they’ll ACTUALLY eat is half the battle at our house. When I hear one of those “I’m hungry!”s, I want to be handing my kids something protein-packed and full of good stuff. And I don’t want to spend a bunch of time making it either.
So I pulled together 18 of our favorite macro-friendly snacks in one place. There are savory bites and dips, snack bowls and smoothies you can throw together in moments, and make-ahead bakes you can cut and serve all week. They work for lunchboxes, after school, sports practice or that hungry stretch before dinner… and the grown-ups love them too.
Grab-and-Go Savory Snacks
When the kids need something more filling than a handful of crackers, these savory snacks are my go-to. The hot honey air fryer salmon bites go in the air fryer for 5-7 minutes and you’re done, with 25g of protein per serving. The Moroccan chicken skewers are another protein-packed one at 27.5g.
For dipping, I love anything I can use in twenty different ways. The Trader Joe’s lentil dip works with pita chips, crackers or veggie sticks, and the cucumber stretches the volume. The Parmesan roasted carrot fries can get devoured fast after school. Sometimes, it’s even by the kids (kidding… not kidding). The egg white veggie mini quiche are bite-size and easy to pack in a lunchbox.

Snack Bowls, Puddings and Smoothies
I don’t want to spend a bunch of time putting together a snack, and you can throw these bowls together in moments. My apple crisp yogurt and cottage cheese bowl is so apple crisp-like that it is frequently requested as an after-school snack at our house, and it has 24.7g of protein. If your crew loves these, my cottage cheese recipes roundup has even more ideas.
Overnight anything keeps things SO easy. Fill a few jars of overnight pumpkin chia protein pudding or blueberry protein chia pudding and the fridge is stocked. For smoothies, the chunky peanut butter chocolate protein shake, the high-protein berry smoothie bowl and the vanilla protein smoothie bowl are all blend and go. If you have a child going through a picky phase, let them call a lot of the shots about what goes into the blender.

Make-Ahead Bakes and Oats
When I’ve baked a dish of oat bars beforehand and all I need to do is cut and serve, life suddenly becomes so much easier. The pumpkin pie baked protein oat bars are a big hit with kids, and the protein pumpkin chocolate chip bars are another easy pan to keep on the counter.
I am a little (well, maybe totally) obsessed with zucchini oats. The snickerdoodle zucchini baked oats are more like bread pudding than cake, and the lemon blueberry version is dairy-free. The microwave brownie zucchini oats take only a few minutes, and they’re fun and easy for kids to make themselves. The cottage cheese pancakes have 23g of protein per serving. Want more? How I Make Snacks My Kids Actually Eat
- Bake once, snack all week. A pan of oat bars or a batch of mini quiche means snack time is just cut and serve.
- Keep jars in the fridge. Chia puddings fill up in minutes and are ready to grab the next day. My meal prep breakfast recipes work great as snacks too.
- Let them help. Kids love creating their own snacks, so let them layer a yogurt bowl, stir up microwave oats or pick the fruit for a smoothie.
- Add veggies where it makes sense. Zucchini in the oats, cucumber in the lentil dip and carrot fries all add volume and nutrients.
- Have a nut-free swap. For a child with a nut allergy, sunflower seed butter or Wow butter works fabulously in place of nut butter on apple slices and toppings.
If you want help with the rest of the week, my macro-friendly meal plans give you a new high-protein, family-friendly plan every Thursday with a categorized grocery list and complete macros on every recipe, and you can try it free.
