These high protein breakfast ideas are the ones I turn to when I need breakfast to actually hold me over until lunch. You know what they say, right? Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Well, I’ve got to say… I agree! When I begin my day with a balanced breakfast, I feel ready to take on whatever comes my way.
If you’re tracking macros, you know how much easier the rest of the day gets when you start with a big hit of protein. So I went through my recipe cards and pulled every breakfast with at least 20 grams of protein per serving. That’s the cutoff for this list, and every number below comes straight from the recipe card nutrition. You guys, a few of these are over 40 grams!
There are 23 recipes here, split into egg bakes and savory plates, overnight oats and yogurt bowls, and protein waffles, toasts and sandwiches. If you like to prep ahead, my meal prep breakfast recipes have even more make-ahead options.
Egg Bakes, Quiche and Savory Breakfast Plates
Eggs (and especially liquid egg whites) are my EASIEST way to get protein in early. The garden veggie quiche for one tops this whole list at 45.8 grams of protein, and the sweet potato breakfast bowl with egg whites isn’t far behind at 41 grams.
The egg white veggie breakfast bake has 30.9 grams per serving, and if you want to bake once for the week, the sheet pan roasted veggie egg bake makes 6 servings at 24.8 grams each. Have a sweet tooth? The chocolate protein breakfast bake still gets you 21 grams.

Overnight Oats, Chia Pudding and Yogurt Bowls
These are my grab-and-go breakfasts… mix them the night before and breakfast is DONE. A scoop of protein powder plus Greek yogurt is how the apple cinnamon protein chia pudding bowl gets all the way to 41.5 grams.
The banana pudding overnight oats (31 grams) and overnight oats with mango and walnuts (30.5 grams) both clear 30 grams per jar. And if you’ve never put cauliflower in your oats, the super filling overnight cauliflower oats are SO worth a try at 25 grams.
No time at all? The yogurt and cottage cheese breakfast bowl is built on low-fat cottage cheese and Greek yogurt with fruit on top for 21 grams. I have a whole list of cottage cheese recipes if you want more ideas.

Sometimes I just want a REAL breakfast… warm waffles, a stacked sandwich, toast with all the toppings. These still land at 20 grams or more. The tomato basil egg white toasts and the Tuscan egg white sandwich both come in at 33.1 grams.
For something sweet, the dark chocolate protein waffles (30.9 grams) start with Kodiak cake mix and liquid egg whites, and my cottage cheese pancakes blend oats, cottage cheese and egg whites for 23 grams per serving.

How I Get 30 Grams of Protein at Breakfast
Ten of the recipes on this list hit 30 grams of protein or more per serving. Here’s what they have in common:
- Start with liquid egg whites. They’re the base of the egg white veggie breakfast bake, the tomato basil egg white toasts and the dark chocolate protein waffles.
- Stir protein powder into oats and chia. A scoop of vanilla protein powder is how the banana pudding overnight oats and the apple cinnamon chia pudding bowl clear 30 grams.
- Add nonfat Greek yogurt. It goes into both of those bowls, and even the tomato basil toasts use it.
- Log it from the recipe card. Every card has full macros, and if you change anything, here’s how to create a recipe in MyFitnessPal so your numbers stay accurate.
More High Protein Breakfast Ideas
Looking for something lighter? My egg white veggie mini quiche (11.9 grams each) and cheese-fried egg wrap breakfast taco (16 grams) don’t hit the 20 gram mark, so they aren’t on this list, but they still make a nice light breakfast.
